Jashar Pasha Mosque

The Jashar Pasha Mosque, located in the historic centre of the city of Prishtina, is a remarkable and notable part of cultural heritageof Kosovo. It was named after Jashar Mehmet Pasha, a wealthy citizen of Pristina and mayor of Skopje in 1842. Jashar Pasha Mosque was bulit in 1834 and the interior is a unique room illuminated by stacked windows, with painted walls and composed of mahvil, mimber and mihrab. The entrance façade and wooden ceiling are also decorated with plant motifs and six pointed stars symbol. This mosque, in addition to being of great importance to the Islamic community, is also considered an important construction work for the development of architecture and cultural-historical landscape of the city of Prishtina.
