Partisan Martyrs Cemetery

In the late 1950s, plans were initiated by regional governments and veterans organizations to create an expansive memorial cemetery complex to commemorate Prishtina’s victims of the People’s Liberation Struggle. The chosen location for the monument was a prominent distinct hilltop park overlooking the city of Prishtina in the neighborhood of Velania, just east of the city center. The Partisans Martyrs Cemetery memorial in Velania district was completed in 1961 over a park of 3 hectares.
